About Medical Informatics 

The position is for a minimum of 7 months commencing Jan 2026- July 2026, and is specifically intended for medical trainees who wish to have dedicated experience in the field of Medical Informatics and Digital Health. Medical Informatics Registrars will be expected to become subject matter experts for clinical information systems, with an emphasis on the EMR, but also will be involved in a variety of other clinician related systems. They will be expected to facilitate system requirements and design discussions and the change management process for any new / modified solutions.   

Working as an extended part of the Department of Clinical Informatics, the Medical Informatics Registrar will act as a bridge between clinicians and the EMR or Digital Health (DH) Team to translate clinical practise into technical solutions and vice versa.  

They will be expected to demonstrate clinical leadership and the ability to positively influence their peers acting as a visible and strong proponent of change and advocate the benefits the EMR and other clinical technology will bring to relevant areas of Monash Health.  

The Digital & Information division are involved in both major and minor projects, as well as ongoing technology maintenance activity. The registrar will be closely working with these teams – a particular emphasis during 2026 being the Maternity Digital Transformation Project.

 

 

About You

Mandatory requirements of the role:   

  • Primary medical degree (MBBS) or equivalent    
  • All candidates will require Australian working rights  
  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)   
  • Employee Working with Children's Check   
  • Current Drivers Licence
