About Us
Moorabbin Hospital is part of the Monash Health network, delivering a broad range of surgical services to a growing and diverse community. The perioperative suite includes six operating theatres and one procedure room supporting multiple surgical specialties in a busy, fast-paced environment.
The Central Sterilising Services unit plays a critical role in ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality patient care across the surgical journey. Our CSS team is highly skilled, passionate, and committed to excellence in patient outcomes and service delivery.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Central Sterilising Services (CSS) Manager to provide operational and clinical leadership to the Central Sterilising Services (CSS) team at Moorabbin Hospital.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and supporting CSS staff in the reprocessing of reusable medical devices (RMDs) across a six-theatre complex and one procedure room
- Driving safe, efficient, and high-quality sterilising services practices in accordance with AS5369 standards
- Collaborating with key stakeholders and working closely with the Operating Theatre Nurse Manager to optimise workflow and service delivery
- Championing quality, safety, and continuous improvement initiatives within CSS
- Supporting workforce planning, recruitment, education, and staff development to build a skilled and resilient team
- Fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture
This is a full-time ongoing position (76 hours per fortnight), working Monday to Friday based at Moorabbin Hospital.
About You
You are a passionate and motivated perioperative leader or experienced Instrument Technician looking to take the next step in your leadership career. With strong experience in sterilising services and a collaborative leadership approach, you are committed to maintaining high standards while supporting and empowering your team.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) OR leadership experience within Central Sterilising Services as a Grade 5 Instrument Technician or above, essential
- Extensive experience in sterilising services, with proven leadership or management capability, essential
- Strong knowledge and understanding of AS5369 standards, essential
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence stakeholders, and build engaged teams
- Previous CSS Management experience, highly regarded
