About Monash Health Women’s and Newborn

Monash Women’s Maternity Service is part of Monash Health. It is the largest maternity service in the State of Victoria, providing care to nearly 12000 births each year across four hospitals (Clayton, Dandenong, Casey and Sandringham) as an integrated, seamless service. As expected for such a large service, Monash Women’s provides maternity care for normal, healthy women and also for women with complex and sub-speciality needs. Casey, Dandenong and Sandringham Hospital provide a full suite of Level 4-5 maternity services (as per Victorian Maternity services Framework), including outpatient pregnancy care clinics, inpatient services and a domiciliary postnatal service. It is at Monash Medical Centre that subspecialty care in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Fetal medicine are provided. 

Gynaecology services are similarly provided across all Monash Health Hospital campuses, including community hospitals and outpatient services. We are proud of our centres of excellence in endometriosis and advanced endo-surgery, pelvic floor, gynaecology oncology, paediatric and adolescent care, and we are the largest provider of gynaecology outpatient and surgical

 

About the Role:

We are seeking a new Consultant for our weekly Sexual Medicine and Therapy clinic.  This outpatient clinic is one of only 2 clinics in Victoria, specifically for seeing patients with sexual
difficulties. It runs weekly on a Thursday morning at Monash Health - Moorabbin Hospital (in East Bentleigh). This position is covering long service leave of 50 weeks, commencing from 24/7/25.

 

We are looking for doctors with some psychological medicine / psychotherapy training and experience and an interest in managing sexual difficulties.
We see patients (of all genders and sexual orientations) with the following presenting complaints:

 

- An inability to have sexual intercourse / penetrative or receptive sex.
- Painful sexual activities, including superficial and / or deep dyspareunia or penile pain.
- Erectile difficulties
- Lack of interest in / desire for sex or changes in libido.
- Different levels of desire in couples (desire discrepancy)– which may lead to relationship issues.
- Arousal or orgasmic issues.
- Ejaculatory concerns (premature or delayed ejaculation).
- Conflict in relationships around sex.
- Concerns around sexual orientation, identity, or any aspects of sexuality.

What you need:
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
- Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
- Working with Children's Certificate
