About the Role:
East Bentleigh Community Care Unit (EBCCU) provides community residential psychosocial rehabilitation to consumers (18-64 years old) who have a serious mental illness and associated psychosocial impairments. East Bentleigh CCU provides a home-like environment where consumers can continue their recovery from mental illness and develop their skills and capacity for independent living in order to facilitate a transition to the community.
East Bentleigh CCU offers an initial period of assessment that may be followed by a medium-term psychosocial rehabilitation program based on individual needs. Referral sources predominantly include Monash Health community mental health teams (CCTs and MSTTs), adult acute inpatient psychiatric units, and the secure extended care unit (SECU).
We have an exciting position for a Grade 2 Social Worker to join our team on a part-time (0.6FTE) ongoing role based in East Bentleigh.
About Us:
The successful candidate will work within a Multi-Disciplinary team and will be accountable for the provision of effective Social Work services to consumers, carers and the community, using individual and group therapies. You will be responsible for:
- The ongoing development, implementation, monitoring and review of Social Work service provision in accordance with the AASW standards and ethics
- Providing direct services to consumers, families/carers and contribute to policy and service development
- Building partnerships between mental health services and the community by networking and liaison with carers/families and community services
- Requiring you to work enthusiastically and flexibly within various teams and the broader Allied Health & Community Program
You will be required to work in any clinical area at any or all campuses of Monash Health as and when required. Such a requirement may be a temporary arrangement, on an ad hoc basis, or a permanent change.
The Grade 2 Social Worker draws on specialised knowledge of theories and evidence to assist patients/consumers, families and/or carers/significant others with psychosocial support and advocacy through psychosocial assessment, intervention, counselling, discharge planning, information provision and facilitates access to community services.
About You:
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
- Bachelor of Social Work or Masters Social Work Qualifying OR Master of Social Work, OR equivalent as assessed and approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Eligible for ordinary membership of AASW (http://www.aasw.asn.au/)
- Written evidence of eligibility for AASW membership for overseas qualifications is required.
- Accredited Social Worker and/or Accredited Mental Health Social Worker: As approved by the AASW
- Previous work experience in the Mental Health Sector
