Nuclear Medicine Technologist Grade 4 - Charge PET NMT, Moorabbin Hospital, and Deputy Chief NMT – Moorabbin Hospital Monash Health

This position is responsible for the day to day running of, planning, coordinating, organisation and implementation of Nuclear Medicine and PET services at Moorabbin Hospital Monash Health. In doing so, the role will require demonstrated capabilities across management, administration and leadership to ensure the provision of high quality service delivery and patient centred care is delivered for PET and Nuclear Medicine services at Moorabbin hospital. This role will work with other senior leadership at Moorabbin and across the Monash Health network to expand on the available PET and Nuclear Medicine educational programs and deliver on strategic initiatives.

  • This position will work directly with the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist and the Clinical Subspecialty Head of Nuclear Medicine and PET.
  • The position of Deputy Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist will require participation at the Imaging Operations Group meetings.
  • This position will be required to Act in the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist role to relieve during periods of leave.

About the Role

Join our team as a Grade 4 NMT full time to work at Moorabbin Hospital based at Bentleigh East.

This role requires management of the Nuclear Medicine & PET team at Moorabbin Hospital. Roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Ensure effective management of workflow across Nuclear Medicine and PET at Moorabbin, including delegation of day to day activities.
  • Work directly with the Radiopharmacy team to coordinate supply of radiopharmaceuticals, particularly in the PET department.
  • Develop and implement training programs for NMTs in all aspects of NM & PET.
  • Manage and oversee research requirements for authorised NM/PET projects with the research lead Nuclear Medicine Technologist, Monash Imaging Research team, and relevant Monash Health research groups.
  • To manage the performance of other staff to provide a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures and PET procedures in a professional manner.
  • Active participation in the NM senior leadership team including audits, protocol development, quality improvement processes and image quality.
  • Support and develop leadership and mentoring of all Nuclear Medicine Technologists as part of their performance enhancement process.

May be required to visit other Monash Health sites for meetings, training, or when Acting in the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist role.

 

About Us

Nuclear Medicine is a multi-site service. It is currently operating at Monash Medical Centre, Moorabbin Hospital, Casey Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, and Monash Biomedical Imaging (MBI) research Facility at Monash University.

  • Monash Medical Centre has three Gamma Cameras – including 2 hybrid SPECT/CT systems, “hot” and “cold” laboratories and a dedicated Iodine therapy room.
  • Casey Hospital has a hybrid SPECT/CT system.
  • Dandenong Hospital has a hybrid SPECT/CT system.
  • Moorabbin Hospital has a hybrid SPECT/CT system, two PET/CT systems and a radiopharmacy lab.
  • MBI operates a research PET/MRI scanner.

About You

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

  • As a leader, be a role model for all Nuclear Medicine Technologists by modelling iCARE values in all decision making and in dealing with other staff and stakeholders
  • Fosters excellence within Nuclear Medicine and PET by leading and continuing to follow evidence based and patient centred practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of organisational change concepts and practices, including a flexible approach and ability to lead and manage a team
  • Demonstrates proven ability to successfully negotiate conflict resolution with appropriate support
  • Change management experience
  • High level of recognised clinical leadership experience and expertise, and at least 10 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine and PET (desirable)

Mandatory requirements of the role:

  • A degree or equivalent in Nuclear Medicine which will ensure eligibility for registration as a Medical Radiation Practitioner with AHPRA.
  • Registration as a Medical Radiation Practitioner with AHPRA
  • A Victorian Radiation Users License
  • Availability for provision of the “on-call” service and overtime as required is mandatory.
