About the role 

We are looking to appoint to the position of Nursing Coordinator – Moorabbin Hospital.   

 

The role will be appointed on an ongoing basis, working across a seven day per week roster including AM, PM and ND shifts. This is a part time role at 48 hours / fortnight. 

 

The Nursing Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality person-centred care and timely patient flow. This includes supporting the delivery of access targets.  Working in collaboration with inter-professional disciplines, the position ensures effective partnerships are developed and maintained in our commitment to delivering high standards of care. 
 You will provide leadership in clinical and non-clinical emergencies as the site emergency responder and/or incident commander and will escalate risks, incidents, and events in a timely manner.  You will also support complex discharge planning and problem solving and provide effective and efficient management of human and fiscal resources to provide a high standard of care in accordance with legislation and other regulations. 

Specific accountabilities will include: 

  • The coordination of bed management and patient access and flow across the site 
  • Site emergency management 
  • Alerting the site Operations Director / Director of Nursing of potential and actual clinical and non-clinical risk issues 
  • Effective and efficient management of the site resources in order to achieve a high standard of nursing care in accordance with legislation and regulations. 

 

About Us - Moorabbin Hospital.    

 

Moorabbin Hospital is home to the Monash Cancer Centre, one of Victoria’s premier integrated cancer treatment centres, with radiotherapy services provided in partnership with Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre. It offers treatment, care and support in one convenient location, and hosts the Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service and BreastScreen Victoria. 

 

As Monash Health’s highest volume elective surgical centre, it provides services in Orthopaedics, ENT, Gynaecology and Urology, along with Haemodialysis and Diagnostic Imaging. 

 

The hospital also houses Victoria’s first Simulation Centre, supporting education and training for medical students, nurses and allied health professionals. 

  

About You 

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge: 

  • You have outstanding people and communication skills, combined with proven recent leadership and management experience. 
  • You have demonstrated prior experience of effective leadership and the delivery of excellence in patient care and services to the community.  
  • With proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively, you readily build strong relationships with stakeholders in the delivery of patient centred care. 
  • You are able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and are outcome focussed with strong problem solving skills and an innovative thinking approach. 
  • You are well organised, have experience using patient administration systems and electronic medical records (EMR), particularly iPM. 
  • Compassionate and able to demonstrate commitment to person-centred care, you are able to identify clinical risk issues and areas for improved clinical outcomes 

  

What you need: 

  • Current AHPRA Registration 
  • Demonstrated experience in acute medical and/or surgical care 
  • Strong leadership skills and a consultative management style 
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal 
  • Ability to manage clinical and operational emergencies 
  • Previous experience in a nursing leadership role 
  • Post graduate qualification in leadership or management (desirable) 
  • Current incident commander training (desirable)
