About the Role

Join our team as an Oncology Nurse Liaison – Lung – Full Time permanent ongoing.

The Oncology Nurse Liaison – Lung is an experienced senior Clinical Nurse is based at Monash Health Moorabbin and also works across all campuses of Monash Health.

This role supports oncology lung patients undergoing anti-cancer treatment, utilising their advanced clinical assessment skills to assist patients with navigator a complex health care system. You will provide comprehensive coordination of care for patients and their families/caregivers. You will coordinate the patient's treatment journey, ensuring that key elements of care occur in an ordered and timely manner. This will include assisting with access to appointments or procedures, eliminate barriers to timely care, facilitate interactions with clinical research, increase patient satisfaction, and maintain contact with other members of the various health care teams.

Oncology Nurse Liaison is responsible for ensuring the patient’s diagnostic, treatment and clinic review appointments are appropriately timed, sequenced and coordinated. The Oncology Nurse Navigator works closely with the multi-disciplinary teams and will provide support and direction regarding management priorities in the care of cancer patients throughout their journey at Monash Health. In addition, the Oncology Nurse Navigator will support the weekly Multi-Disciplinary Meetings (MDMs) as required.

About You  

You are an enthusiastic team player with good analytical skills, ability to navigate a range of systems and an ability to work autonomously. Through your willingness to engage with others, and through communicating effectively with a variety of key stakeholders, you will build your understanding of our complex operating environment. You can readily demonstrate:

  • You are an experienced senior Clinical Nurse with a broad working knowledge and skills relating to cancer care and anti-cancer therapies - essential
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Cancer Nursing, essential
  • AHPRA registration, essential
  • Anti-cancer drug administration course (ADAC) credentialed, essential
  • Demonstrated organisational skills to assess, plan, design, coordinate, implement and evaluate care delivery, including symptom management, development of a care plan, education, supportive care screening and referral. 
  • Proven ability to work autonomously as well as a member of the multidisciplinary team 
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation, conciliation and stakeholder engagement skills 
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, organisational and time management skills 
  • Proficient computer skills  
  • Lead quality assurance activities to ensure activity and performance targets are met.  
  • A proven commitment to the principles of cancer care and evidence-based practice   
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
