About the opportunity

The Southern Melbourne Integrated Cancer Service (SMICS) is one of nine Victorian Integrated Cancer Services that bring together healthcare providers and other cancer care stakeholders to develop, implement and evaluate initiatives that improve the way Victoria’s health services provide care and support to people affected by cancer. SMICS provides a network to improve the quality and continuity of patient care and ensures that appropriate links exist between health services to optimise patient pathways for persons affected by cancer.

 

SMICS services south-east Melbourne, working across Alfred Health, Cabrini Health, Monash Health and Peninsula Health. 

The SMICS team currently undertakes a blend of remote and office-based work at Moorabbin Hospital, which will continue for the foreseeable future.    

 

The Project Manager – lived experience, will work across an extensive network to facilitate the development and delivery of a consumer informed program of work in line with the Victorian Cancer Plan, VICS Strategy and Action Plan and local regional priorities. 

You will be responsible for developing SMICS lived experience/community engagement program and supporting SMICS team members to ensure the consumer voice is reflected in their improvement activities.

You will deliver project management coordination and performance monitoring in relation to service improvement activities, with a particular focus on the experience and priorities of people directly affected by cancer and support the SMICS team to consider the consumer experience in all facets of their work.

 

This is a two year, part time, fixed-term position.

 

About You 

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge: 

  • A lived experience of cancer as a patient or carer will be highly regarded
  • Tertiary qualification in health with more than three years of experience in hospitals, community health, chronic disease management, and/or cancer services
  • Demonstrated experience in community engagement and consumer participation
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in project management and report writing
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating co-design
