An exciting 12-month fixed-term opportunity until September 2027, covering maternity leave, is available for an experienced Registered Midwife to join the leadership team at Casey Maternity as an Associate Midwife Manager.
This role offers the opportunity to rotate across a range of maternity areas, rather than being a core Birth Suite or Pregnancy Assessment Unit position. It’s an opportunity to broaden your leadership experience, work alongside different teams and contribute to safe, high-quality maternity care across the service.
About the Role
As an Associate Midwife Manager, you’ll provide visible clinical, operational and people leadership across Casey Maternity, working closely with Midwife Managers and the broader multidisciplinary team.
With the opportunity to work across different areas of the service, you’ll develop a broad understanding of maternity operations while supporting teams to deliver safe, compassionate and woman-centred care.
You will:
- Provide clinical, operational and people leadership across maternity areas.
- Rotate across different areas and teams according to service needs.
- Support Midwife Managers with the day-to-day coordination of maternity services.
- Coordinate patient flow, staffing and clinical priorities in a busy environment.
- Provide leadership and operational oversight in the Midwife Manager’s absence.
- Coach, mentor and support midwives to develop their confidence and capability.
- Foster a positive culture built on teamwork, accountability and psychological safety.
- Build strong relationships across teams and the broader multidisciplinary service.
- Contribute to quality improvement and initiatives that enhance care for women, babies and families.
This is a part time opportunity 0.84 EFT rotating across all shifts in a rotating roster.
Night Duty rosters can be discussed.

About You
You’re an experienced and adaptable midwife who enjoys leading people, supporting teams and contributing to a positive workplace culture.
You’re comfortable stepping into different clinical environments, quickly understanding what a team needs and providing calm, consistent and approachable leadership. You communicate openly, make sound decisions and know when to step forward, support others or escalate when required.
You’ll bring:
- Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA.
- Leadership experience within an acute maternity environment.
- Strong clinical judgement and confidence managing competing priorities.
- The flexibility and adaptability to work across different maternity areas.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine interest in coaching, mentoring and developing others.
- A commitment to creating a supportive, accountable and collaborative team culture.
- A passion for delivering exceptional woman-centred care.
