This newly created leadership role offers a rare opportunity to shape the future of Midwifery Group Practice and Hospital Homebirth in a well-established model at Monash Women's Casey. 

 

As our maternity service continues to grow alongside one of Melbourne's fastest-growing communities, we're investing in dedicated leadership to strengthen our continuity of care models and support future service expansion. 

You'll have the opportunity to establish and influence this role from the outset—working alongside an experienced multidisciplinary leadership team to grow a well-established continuity of care model that is innovative, sustainable and centred on the needs of women, babies and families. 

 

About the role 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Monash Women's at Casey, you'll lead the day-to-day operations of the Midwifery Group Practice, including oversight of our Hospital Homebirth program and maternity clinics at Pakenham. 

Working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues, you'll ensure safe, high-quality continuity of care while driving service development, quality improvement and operational excellence. 

 

Your responsibilities will include: 

 

  • Leading, supporting and developing the Midwifery Group Practice team
  • Providing operational oversight of the publically funded homebirth program
  • Chairing multidisciplinary MGP meetings and fostering collaborative clinical practice
  • Representing MGP at key governance forums 
  • Presenting MGP cases and contributing expert clinical insight to complex case discussions
  • Triaging and allocating referrals into the MGP and Homebirth programs
  • Developing and managing MGP rosters in line with Monash Health requirements and ANMF MGP rostering guidelines
  • Monitoring caseload allocation to support safe, equitable and sustainable practice
  • Driving quality improvement initiatives to ensure MGP performance indicators meet or exceed targets
  • Providing operational support to maternity clinics at Pakenham one day each week

About you 

You're an experienced midwifery leader who is passionate about continuity of care and empowering women through evidence-based, relationship-focused maternity services. 

 

You'll bring: 

  • Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Midwife
  • Demonstrated leadership experience within a Midwifery Group Practice or caseload model of care
  • A strong commitment to woman-centred, culturally safe practice
  • Excellent communication, collaboration and people leadership skills
  • Experience leading quality improvement and service development initiatives
  • The ability to balance operational demands with compassionate clinical leadership 

 

Highly desirable: 

  • Experience working within a hospital-based Homebirth model of care
