About the Role: 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Manager to join our dedicated team at Casey Day Procedure Unit.

 

  • This is an ongoing Full-Time basis position. 

 

As the Nurse Manager, you will provide clinical and operational leadership to the Day Surgery Unit, ensuring seamless coordination between DSU, Operating Theatres, Endoscopy, and Planned Surgery services.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team and be accountable for:


  • Patient flow and access

    • Overseeing same-day admissions, recovery, and discharge processes
    • Minimising delays, cancellations, and length of stay

  • Operational performance

    • Aligning DSU capacity with theatre and procedural lists
    • Supporting achievement of theatre KPIs (start times, utilisation, turnaround)

  • Clinical excellence and safety

    • Ensuring compliance with NSQHS standards

    • Leading risk management, incident review, and quality improvement
  • Workforce leadership

    • Building a high-performing, engaged team
    • Managing rostering, skill mix, and workforce capability

  • Financial stewardship


    • Managing budgets and identifying efficiency opportunities

About You:

You are a confident and visible clinical leader with a strong track record in perioperative or procedural environments.

 

To be successful for this role you will need to demonstrate:

 

  • Significant experience in day surgery, perioperative, endoscopy or procedural services
  • Proven leadership experience at ANUM / NUM / Nurse Manager level
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Patient flow and access within surgical services
    • Theatre and procedural coordination
    • Workforce planning and industrial agreements
  • Demonstrated ability to:

    • Lead and influence multidisciplinary teams
    • Drive quality improvement and service redesign
    • Manage competing priorities in a complex environment

What You Need:

  • Current AHPRA registration (Registered Nurse) , (NMBA)
  • Relevant leadership and management experience
  • Postgraduate qualifications in leadership/management (desirable)
