About the Department

Casey Hospital ICU is a 12 bed unit, designed to accommodate the rapidly rising healthcare demand of Victoria’s south eastern regions. The unit provides care for a diverse range of critically unwell medical and surgical patients and offers specialised services such as urology, obstetrics etc.

No two days will be the same, and our Adult Intensive Care Units work uniquely while collaborating with stakeholders and teams across all sites as one Program.

 

About the Role

We're excited to offer an outstanding opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Manager in the Intensive Care Unit at Casey Hospital. This full-time, permanent role allows you to make a meaningful impact while advancing your career in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Reporting directly to the Operations Manager – ICU and ED, the NM will provide clinical leadership and operational management of the unit and will be responsible for delivering safe, quality clinical patient care standards and ensuring that patients receive exceptional care.

The role is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the unit ensuring timely patient access to critical care, the effective utilisation of financial resources and fostering of a safe working environment for staff.

The NM will leads and proactively contribute to our vision of “exceptional care, outstanding outcomes” for the Intensive Care unit in Casey Hospital.  With proven people management skills, the NM will lead by example and inspire their team to perform at their best whilst working collaboratively with all key stakeholders.

This role demands a committed and flexible leader who is comfortable operating in a fluid environment and can rapidly and effectively respond to changing circumstances and needs of the Hospital.

 

About You

As an accomplished nursing leader, you have a genuine passion and a proven track record of clinical leadership. You are a high achiever with a proven ability to deliver successful outcomes across service delivery, resource management, and professional and technical competence areas. You communicate effectively; and are able to build rapport and engage with others at all levels to deliver outcomes in a timely manner.

This position requires a dynamic individual with excellent nursing and leadership skills and demonstrated expertise in the delivery of clinical excellence in a professional manner. Demonstrated experience in managing a multidisciplinary team, excellent communication skills and the ability to strategically plan will be essential to your success in this position. You thrive working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and are truly passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence-based nursing care to all patients.

  • a high level of proficiency with a range of technology solutions

  • a commitment to proactively support colleagues at all levels as well as mentor a team

 

What you need:

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team in high acuity clinical environment
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated acute nursing experience
  • Successful leadership of continuous improvement initiatives as they relate to National Standards
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification in critical care.
