About the Role
We are excited to offer a full-time ongoing opportunity for a Nurse Manager to lead Ward A at Casey Hospital. This leadership role is scheduled Monday to Friday and is central to the delivery of high-quality surgical care.
As the Nurse Manager of Ward A, you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary leaders to advance patient outcomes. Your contribution to clinical governance will be vital, with monthly meetings alongside interdisciplinary managers to guide both operational and strategic planning across the unit.
About Us
Ward A is a 32-bed surgical inpatient unit located at Casey Hospital. It provides nurses with the opportunity to work across a broad range of surgical specialties, including urology, gynaecology, ENT, plastics, and general surgery.
Our nursing team is committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care throughout the surgical journey. The ward is known for its fast-paced and collaborative environment, where nurses are supported to grow professionally, contribute to multidisciplinary care, and make a meaningful impact every day.
About You
We are looking for a Nurse Manager with strong clinical leadership and management experience, ideally with a background in surgical nursing. A relevant postgraduate qualification will be highly regarded.
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring patients have access to safe and timely care. You will oversee the clinical care provided and coordinate patient’s transition from the acute setting back into the community. Your understanding of community health services will be essential in supporting continuity of care and improving patient satisfaction.
You will play a key role in optimising professional practice across the team, including contributing to annual education planning to ensure staff maintain evidence-based standards. This planning also supports career development for nurses seeking to advance professionally.
As Nurse Manager, you will ensure care delivery aligns with the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards and lead quality improvement initiatives that support positive patient outcomes. You will also be responsible for managing the unit’s budget, ensuring financial sustainability while maintaining timely access to treatment.
Your leadership will support compliance with Victorian Occupational Health and Safety legislation, the Safe Patient Care Act, and the Enterprise Agreement. You will act as a key communication link, attending site and program meetings to integrate best practice and organisational procedures into daily clinical operations.
As a senior leader within Monash Health’s Hospital and Clinics Division - Casey Hospital, your expertise will contribute to the delivery of strategic priorities including excellence in timely care, digital transformation, financial sustainability, capital planning, research development, and workforce strategy.
You will participate in site and organisational committees and attend operational and program councils. Your role will involve critically reviewing care pathways, contributing to the evaluation of guidelines and procedures, and participating in the review of Serious Adverse Patient Safety Events. Your insights will help identify gaps and drive improvements in clinical practice.
