About the Role:
Join our team as a Grade 4 Critical Care and Surgical Services Physiotherapist on a part-time fixed-term basis (0.40 EFT / 30.4 hours per fortnight) until December 2026, based primarily between Monash Health Casey and Dandenong Hospital's with Casey Hospital as your home site.
In this pivotal role, you’ll work in close partnership with the Head of Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology & Neurophysiology Science, the Physiotherapy and Exercise Physiology Manager, Medical Directors, and Nursing Managers to deliver high-quality services. Your key responsibilities will include:

Coordinating and developing the bed-based physiotherapy critical care and surgical services across Casey and Dandenong Hospitals

Providing expert clinical knowledge and evidence-based physiotherapy management of patients admitted to Casey and Dandenong Hospitals in the Intensive Care Unit and through to the acute wards

Leading physiotherapy clinical research, quality and teaching activities including development and implementation of competency-based assessments

Promoting and developing the physiotherapy service by building strong partnerships across Monash Health, with other health networks nationally and internationally, and with key teaching organisations

About You:
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

Extensive experience in physiotherapy assessment, intervention, case management and discharge planning across the continuum of care including those in ICU, on cardiac surgery and cardiology wards as well as across multiple surgical cohorts

Advanced knowledge in the application of evidence and theory to practice in the area of Critical Care and Surgical Physiotherapy

Ability to develop and lead professional development of undergraduate, professional and postgraduate physiotherapists as well as the wider multidisciplinary team
On a personal level, you will demonstrate:

Advanced level of recognised clinical leadership experience in an acute physiotherapy service including service development and leading others through change

Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver safe, consumer focused care

Previous experience leading both formal research projects and quality improvement activities

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Advanced skills in organisation, time management, planning and priority setting
Mandatory requirements of the role:

Bachelor of Applied Science (Physiotherapy) or equivalent

Relevant post graduate qualifications
-
Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
