About the Role: Join our team as a Registered Nurse to work at Special Care Nursery based at Casey Hospital You will be joining a highly skilled and motivated team and must be able to act autonomously, be a great communicator, and be able to multi task. Discharge co-ordination is also a major part of this role. We operate a Family Centred Care Model within our unit and aim to provide high quality care to our babies and their families. We focus on care plans, discharge planning and education to enable safe and early discharge to reunite the family unit. This is a position requiring flexibility to work across a rotating roster, 7 days, including night duty and weekends. About Us: At Casey Special Care Nursery
Casey SCN is a 20-bed Level 4 nursery providing high-dependency neonatal care, including respiratory support like CPAP and high-flow oxygen. It admits babies from maternity, emergency, or as transfers and focuses on high-quality, family-centred care, including discharge planning and education for early and safe return home. Post-discharge, ongoing nursing support is offered through Hospital in the Home (HITH) and Post-Acute Care (PAC) programs. Casey SCN is part of Monash Health, working closely with other nurseries including the NICU at Monash Children's Hospital. Staff development is supported by on-site nurse educators and opportunities to gain NICU experience. The unit is led by a Nurse Manager (NM) and Associate Nurse Managers (ANMs), supported by a skilled team of Registered and Enrolled Nurses/Midwives, medical staff (consultants, registrars, residents), and allied health professionals. Postgraduate qualifications in neonatal care are encouraged but not required initially. Staff are actively involved in quality improvement and risk management initiatives to enhance care for newborns and their families.
