About the Role
Join our team as an Associate Nurse Manager, to work at Monash Newborn at Monash Children’s Hospital, Clayton. We have a number of opportunities, full and part time - fixed term and Ongoing, across a 24/7 rotational roster
Our leaders love coming to work every day to be able to provide safe and excellent family centred care. You’ll enjoy the variety and challenge that comes from working with likeminded skilled senior staff and mentors, while being supported by your manager and other leaders within the program and broader health service. We are now looking to engage a highly motivated and experienced nursing professional to fill an important clinical and operational leadership role. Reporting to and working closely with the Nurse Unit Managers, this role provides the chance to demonstrate both your highly developed and proven clinical leadership skills, with the responsibility for managing a team of up to 40 nurses per shift. Key areas of accountability include:
- Ensuring the delivery of high quality evidence-based nursing care;
- Working collaboratively with sick and premature babies and their families, and a highly skilled multidisciplinary team to achieve goals and health outcomes;
- Establishing and maintaining effective communication with health professionals, support staff and other stakeholders, both internal and external to Monash Health;
- Coordinating the department’s activities including workload delegation and rostering;
- Consistently role modelling nursing excellence, demonstrating your commitment to family-centred care and best practice standards; and
- Contributing to the attainment and sharing of professional clinical expertise through networking with colleagues both locally and further afield.

About Us
Monash Newborn, situated in the Monash Children’s hospital, is a 64 bed medical and surgical neonatal unit, with a reputation for delivering outstanding family centred care to neonates. Monash Newborn operates as a single unit with 2 Nurse Managers who look after the daily operations and staff management across Sunbird and Kingfisher teams.
About You
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge.
You are a Registered nurse with a positive attitude who loves to laugh and enjoys being a leader at work with likeminded employees. You share this passion with your patient's families, and support them through such a challenging time when it should be, the most joyful experience in their family life.
You are now ready for the next step in your career.
Along with this, you have proven experience working in a NICU or SCN environment. You are driven and look forward to growing your career with the support of amazing mentors and educators within our highly skilled broader team.
You need:
- Evidence of completion of a Post Graduate Certificate in Neonatal Intensive Care
