Nestled within the leafy grounds of Kingston Centre in Heatherton, Boollam Boollam Aged Care Centre offers a state-of-the-art, purpose-built residential facility dedicated to comfort, dignity, and excellence in aged care. With 150 beds across four thoughtfully designed floors, our modern infrastructure supports a warm, home-like environment, tailored to meet the unique needs of every resident.
About the Role:
Join our team as a Food Services Assistant (FSA) on a Part time ongoing basis in this exciting opportunity to work at the new Boollam Boollam Aged Care Centre.
Being part of the Support Services team and reporting to the Chef Manager, , FSA’s play a vital role in providing high-quality nutrition and hydration services to residents, supporting overall resident nutrition and food safety. FSA’s are responsible for the preparation and delivery of meals, cleaning of food service areas, all whilst ensuring resident’s nutrition and hydration needs are met accurately and efficiently. FSA’s contribute to resident care by ensuring nutrition and hydration needs are delivered on time, safely, accurately and with respect.
Key responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Delivering and collecting nutrition and hydration requirements to and from service areas
- Preparation and serving of nutrition and hydration requirements in line with production and clinical needs.
- Communicating effectively with residents and colleagues regarding nutrition and hydration preferences
- Cleaning and sanitising food trays, food preparation areas, and kitchen equipment
- Operating dishwashers and other food service equipment safely and efficiently
- Restocking dining areas and trolleys; whilst maintaining food stock levels as required
- Set up and clean-up of house dining rooms.
- Distribution of nutrition and hydration needs to resident rooms as required and collection of trays at end of service.
- Completing all food safety and cleaning documentation accurately and in a timely manner
We are seeking FSAs to join our Residential Food services team with a start time between 6:30am or 7am. In this resident-facing role FSA’s will prepare cold foods ahead of time for residents, they prepares foods such as sandwiches, yoghurts and desserts, whilst ensuring that food safety standards are maintained and resident dietary requirements are met. The FSA is responsible for working with the clinical team and lifestyle team to deliver an exceptional dining experience for all residents and their families.
About You:
To ensure your success in this role, you will bring strong demonstrated knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene standards. You will have a passion for resident care and nutrition, whilst ensuring residents are treated with respect and empathy. You are a reliable and punctual team member with great verbal and written communication skills; as well as intermediate computer skills. Whether you work independently or as part of a team; you always follow manual handling, safety protocols, and procedural instructions. It would be ideal if you also had a comprehensive understanding of diet codes, texture modified foods and fluids, food allergies and intolerances.
You are also required to hold:
- HLTFSE001: Follow basic food safety practices or SITXFSA001: Use hygienic practices for food safety
