About the Role

Monash Health’s Support Services have an exciting part time role 70 hours a fortnight on an ongoing basis within our General Services leadership team at the new Boollam Boollam Aged Care Centre (BBACC)! To help us further refine how best to care for our Aged Care Residents, an excellent opportunity is available for an outstanding individual to join us as General Service’s supervisor of our new 150 bed residential aged care facility in Cheltenham.

The Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of Patient Services Assistants, Environmental Services Assistant and Laundry Attendant staff. This role is perfect for those with dynamic leadership skills and a positive attitude with a passion for being part of a collaborative resident-focused team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a General Services Supervisor to make their mark and lead a team of passionate and highly dedicated Patient Service Assistants (PSA), Environmental Service Assistants (ESA) and Laundry Attendants.

Reporting to the General Services Manager, this role also includes driving excellence across residential cleaning demands, linen, pest control, washroom, waste services and resident focussed service to ensure operational and Aged Care objectives are met.

In this role, you will be rostered to work in a rotating roster for 5 days a week between Monday – Sunday, working 07:30 – 15:00.

Key responsibilities of General Services Supervisor include but not limited to:  

  • Lead and mentor a team of General Services talent 
  • Actively contribute to a positive team culture 
  • Roster management 
  • Achieve accreditation for areas of responsibility 
  • Meet service key performance indicators 
  • Deliver high-quality customer focused services 
  • Manage site-wide cleaning, waste, linen, resident movement requests, pest control and service style delivery.
  • Training, best practice and workplace safety adherence.
  • Ensure quality standards are not only met but strive to exceed them.

About Us

Support Services is responsible for the provision of non-clinical services that includes food services, resident support, porters, cleaning, linen, pest control, central production kitchen, waste management, car parking, hygiene services and some retail services.

Boollam Boollam: As the newest facility in the growing Monash Health network, this state-of-the-art aged care centre is in the final stages of completion and is scheduled for commissioning in mid-2025.  Its modern infrastructure will enable a broad service offering including:

  • Personalised care plans for residents, to ensure their specific health and wellness needs are met
  • Medical and nursing support available 24/7, with skilled staff available to manage a range of healthcare conditions
  • Recreational activities and social programs designed to promote mental and physical wellbeing
  • Specialised rooms, therapy areas, and community spaces for residents and their families
  • Technological integration such as monitoring systems, telehealth options, and digital communication tools, all designed to enhance care

About You

To ensure your success in this role, you will have following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge: 

  • Demonstrated leadership skills to supervise and mentor a team is essential 
  • Sound computer/digital skills required with roster management and Kronos knowledge desirable 
  • Agility in multi-tasking and prioritising 
  • Ensure high standard of cleaning, infection prevention best practice and cleaning requirements 
  • Understanding of Victorian Aged Care Cleaning Standards 
  • Able to undertake physical work including lifting, carrying and manual handling 
  • Excellent communication skills and able to implement written instructions and company procedures  
  • Understanding of patient identification procedures  
  • High standard of integrity and confidentiality required at all times
  • Diversity in use of cleaning equipment and knowledge
  • One who takes on the responsibility of finding a way to ensure that tasks are completed daily.
