About the Role 

The Addiction Medicine Registrar is responsible for providing high quality, evidence-based and effective Drug and Alcohol Services including assessment, care planning, interventions and follow-up for both inpatients and outpatients of Monash Health consumers. The Registrar will work in collaboration with all Drug and Alcohol Service streams to facilitate integrated treatment pathways with related mental health, medical, surgical and community sectors. They will provided clinical expertise and support to the broader Drug and Alcohol Service including contributing to the educational and skills transfer activities of the Addiction Medicine Unit and the Southern Dual Diagnosis Service. 

The role is supervised by Addiction Medicine Specialists and Addiction Psychiatrists and is based primarily at Dandenong and Clayton hospital sites (including Victorian Heart Hospital) working with the AMU Consultation Liaison emergency and inpatient service, the specialist AMU outpatient and pharmacotherapy clinics, the community residential withdrawal unit and other discipline outpatient clinics (including mental health, pain, hepatology and antenatal) and the training of Nursing and Junior Medical Staff. 

What You Need to Know: 

  • The position is suitable for doctors wishing to pursue a career in Addiction Medicine or Specialist Medical/Psychiatric Practice; 

  • Excellent supervision and training program is offered toward Fellowship of the Chapter of Addiction Medicine of the Royal Australian College of Physicians; 

  • Some participation in the after hour’s cover roster is a requirement for this position;

We are looking for RANZCP, RACGP or RACP registrars or other doctors who have completed compulsory rotations and wish to add Addiction Medicine to their skill set before or after College Fellowship. 

 

About You

What you need: 

  • Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) 

  • Working with Children's Certificate 

  • Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications   

  • Current Drivers Licence  

  • All candidates will require Australian working rights
