Monash Health Intensive Care has recently acquired a state-of-the-art critical care ultrasound simulator. This is the fully optioned CAE Vimedix package which includes training for transthoracic, trans-oesophageal, pleural, lung and eFAST ultrasound imaging. This new simulator complements the current excellent and long-standing Monash Health critical care ultrasound education program led by our highly skilled team of sonographer educators. Monash Health Intensive Care is also in advanced negotiations to form a clinical partnership with the Monash University School of Medical Imaging and Radiation Sciences. The aim is to develop a novel critical care ultrasound series of courses with a number of intensive care clinical partners, and with Monash University as the credentialling body. This exciting collaboration has opened up new opportunities to Monash Intensive Care junior medical staff for formal training in critical care ultrasound.
