Monash Health Imaging Neuroradiology/MR Fellow/System Focused Rotation Trainee Position

Applications are invited from qualified medical practitioners, who are registered in Australia, for the position of Monash Health Imaging Neuroradiology/MR Fellow or Neuroradiology/MR SFR Trainee. The position would best suit a 5th or 6th year radiology trainee or qualified junior radiologist wishing to extend their knowledge of clinical neuroradiology, and gain experience in this subspecialty at an advanced level.  This includes trainees and radiologists interested in pursuing a career in interventional neuroradiology who wish to consolidate their skills in diagnostic neuroradiology.  Our subspecialist teams foster an innovative, respectful and positive culture that provides high level expertise in neuroradiology, including advanced imaging techniques.  Your passion for excellence will be encouraged and professional growth will be nurtured.

About Monash Health Imaging, Neuroradiology and Neurosciences

We are the largest public hospital radiology department in Australia, and the only one with a fully subspecialized radiology service in Victoria.  Monash Health Imaging performs over 365,000 imaging examinations per year across all sites, including over 40 000 cross-sectional neuroimaging studies.  We currently employ approximately 500 EFT. We have all clinical imaging modalities across 8 campuses: Monash Medical Centre - Clayton; Monash Children's Hospital, Clayton; Victoria Heart Hospital – Clayton; Dandenong Hospital, Dandenong; Casey Hospital, Berwick; Moorabbin Hospital, Bentleigh East; Kingston Centre, Cheltenham and the Pakenham Health Centre, Pakenham.  The network has eight MRI scanners, including five 3T scanners.

Our comprehensive Neuroradiology service, which includes all aspects of diagnostic neuroradiology and interventional neuroradiology, is based at Clayton.  We serve a catchment of approximately 2 million people, and provide imaging support to one of Australia’s largest neurosurgery and neurology units.  Monash Health is also a comprehensive stroke centre, with a nationally leading interventional neuroradiology service.  We also have large neuro-oncology and pituitary clinics.  The neuroradiology fellow will therefore gain in-depth exposure to all aspects of neuroimaging, including a large volume of CT and MR perfusion scans, and neurovascular and neurooncology cases. They will be expected to run neuro-oncology, stroke, neurology, Head and Neck tumour, neurodegeneration and neurosurgery multi-disciplinary team meetings (MDTs).

Our neuroradiology research program offers fellows the opportunities to participate in projects involving advanced MRI and CT techniques as well as artificial intelligence. Our research team includes MR physicists and world leaders in artificial intelligence in radiology. Our Imaging Program clearly defines its mission as the delivery of leading edge, evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services, research and education that meets the needs of our community and employees. Our vision is to relentlessly pursue excellence in imaging, and be the destination-of-choice for our community, referrers, researchers, educational institutions, employees and students.

Participation in the evening roster is expected.  While this position is technically based across all Monash Health campuses, the neuroradiology fellow is based at MMC Clayton, and will spend approximately 1 day per fortnight at the Moorabbin campus to facilitate attendance of the Head and Neck tumour MDT.
