About the Role 

The Hand Fellow in Orthopaedic Surgery is a senior training role, providing specialist surgical care to children and adults, with a strong focus on acute and emergency presentations, including major trauma. 

The position operates across three hospital sites within a large Unit comprising 33 consultant surgeons, led by Mr Rabi Solaiman, and supported by accredited and unaccredited registrars. The unit is actively involved in under and post graduate training in Surgery for Monash University School of Medicine and the Advanced Training Program of the Australian Orthopaedic Association. 

This Fellowship is typically a 12month appointment. All clinical duties are performed under the supervision of nominated Orthopaedic Consultant(s). 

This is a 12 month position commencing August 2026. 

  

About You 

Qualifications, registrations and licences: 

  • A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) which is recognised for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency 

  • Trainee of relevant Medical college 

  • Motor vehicle driver licence 

Technical skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • Has the appropriate level of clinical knowledge and skills to undertake the role of Fellow 

  • Has the appropriate level of relevant clinical experience to undertake the specific role
