About the Department of Anaesthesia VHH
The Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH) is Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital, offering specialized cardiac care, including surgery, anaesthesia, and critical care. VHH operates as part of Monash Health, Victoria’s largest public health service. It is one of the highest volume cardiac centres in Victoria, providing comprehensive cardiac and cardiology care to a quarter of Melbourne’s population.

About the Role
The successful candidate will report to the Director of Anaesthesia VHH and the Provisional Fellow supervisor
The cardiac anaesthesia provisional fellow will be based primarily at Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH). The fellow will also work at Monash Health Clayton one weekend per four weeks covering the emergency theatre.
The fellow is expected to exhibit the highest standards of professionalism at all times. They will be operating in a team-based environment and are expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills.
The fellow will participate in a variety of non-clinical activities within the cardiac anaesthesia department including research, educational meetings, quality assurance activities (such as morbidity and mortality meetings) and advancing the profile of the department.
As a cardiac anaesthesia provisional fellow, you will have significant responsibility and a complex role. You will be required to undertake:

Patient assessment and management in consultation with the treating consultant

Patient care coordination

Intern/HMO support, supervision, feedback and teaching

Student interaction and teaching
-
Family member communication, feedback and liaison

Extensive interaction with the other health professionals, especially, the nursing and allied health staff

Self-management (including time management, accessing education and training and completing college requirements)

Provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary treating team

Demonstrate commitment towards key organisational initiatives

Demonstrate compliance with all relevant Monash Health Policies and Procedures
About You
Candidates require:

Australian working rights

Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

Successful completion of the Second Part Examination in anaesthesia with ANZCA
-
Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
-
Working with Children's Certificate
-
Current Drivers Licence
