About Monash Doctors

To help grow your career, there are more than 1,900 Junior and 1,700 Senior Doctors at Monash Health in over 200 medical specialties. We offer unparallel opportunities in Victoria's largest & most clinically diverse teaching health service.

About the Dermatology Unit

The Monash Health Dermatology Unit provides adult and paediatric dermatology care to the communities of south-east Melbourne, including general and subspecialty outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations, with paediatric services delivered through Monash Children’s Hospital. The unit has an active and growing clinical trials program across adult and paediatric skin disease, and a strong commitment to teaching, research and quality improvement.

About the role

We are seeking a motivated HMO to join the unit in a part-time (0.2 FTE, one day per week) fixed-term position for the 2027 clinical year. Working as a sub-investigator under the supervision of our Principal Investigators and alongside our clinical trial coordinators, you will conduct trial visits, obtain informed consent, review and sign off results and trial paperwork, and respond to participant and monitor queries across both adult and paediatric trials.

When there is no scheduled trial activity, you will see patients in general dermatology outpatient clinics. You will also be expected to contribute to the unit’s grant applications, business cases, research projects and quality assurance audits. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior doctor with an interest in dermatology to build clinical trial, research and dermatology experience.

About You:

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

  • A genuine interest in dermatology and in clinical research
  • PGY3 or above at commencement, with sound clinical skills in assessing and managing patients
  • An understanding of clinical trial processes, including informed consent, adverse event reporting and source documentation (GCP certification, or willingness to complete it before starting)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
  • Clear, empathetic communication with patients, children and families, and professional communication with sponsors, monitors and colleagues
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a part-time role
  • Desirable: experience in clinical trials, dermatology or paediatrics, and in grant writing, QA audits, publications or presentations

Mandatory requirements of the role:

  • Primary medical degree (MBBS) or equivalent
  • All candidates will require Australian working rights
  • General registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Employee Working with Children's Check
  • Current Drivers Licence
