Build your Emergency Medicine foundations with Monash Emergency in 2027

Monash Emergency is seeking Hospital Medical Officers (HMOs) to join our busy and dynamic Emergency Departments in 2027.

The Emergency HMO role is designed for doctors seeking to build foundational Emergency Medicine capability within a supported clinical environment. Working within consultant-led clinical teams, Emergency HMOs receive structured supervision, workplace-based teaching and progressive clinical responsibility while gaining exposure to the breadth of Emergency Medicine.

This role is ideal for doctors undertaking their first substantial Emergency Medicine experience or seeking broad acute care exposure to support future career pathways including Emergency Medicine, General Practice, Physician Training and other acute specialties.

The Monash Emergency Experience

• Paediatric Emergency Department; a new department with a state-of-the-art Monash Children’s hospital, PICU and NICU
• Victorian Heart Hospital (VHH); work a term in the ED of Australia’s only specialty cardiac hospital
• Experience the new department at MMC, a vibrant and dynamic tertiary department with cutting edge stroke service, cardiac, renal transplant, neurosurgery and more
• Dandenong ED is an established suburban department, home of our Trauma and Toxicology services as well as a busy ICU and surgical services
• A new Emergency Department build is underway at Casey Hospital, a fully supported suburban centre with ICU, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Surgical services

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

• Clinical capability appropriate to stage of training and experience
• Strong communication skills with patients, families and multidisciplinary teams
• Commitment to learning, feedback and professional development
• Ability to work collaboratively within consultant-led clinical teams

Mandatory requirements of the role

• Primary medical degree (MBBS) or equivalent
• Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility for registration)
• Australian working rights
• Employee Working with Children’s Check
• Current Driver Licence
