Interventional Radiology/ Interventional Neuroradiology Unaccredited Junior Registrar  

Applications for suitably qualified medical practitioners for the position Interventional Radiology/Interventional Neuroradiology Unaccredited Junior Registrar at Monash Health Imaging.  Applicants must hold a medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) which is recognised for non-provisional registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. The position is offered on a 12-month fixed term basis. 

  

About the Department 

Monash Health Radiology is the largest public provider of imaging, therapeutic and interventional services within Australia with over 600 staff across the network. We provide Interventional Radiology (IR) and Interventional Neuroradiology (INR) services at 6 sites of the Monash Health network (Victorian Heart Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Monash Children’s Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital and Casey Hospital).   

We perform more than 2000 body angiography procedures and 500 neuro angiography procedures as well as more than 4000 non-vascular image guided procedures per year. Including paediatric IR procedures.  

The department also performs more than 18000 diagnostic vascular studies per year across US, CT and MRI and our Interventional Radiologists and Interventional Neuroradiologists also report a wide variety of non-vascular diagnostic studies.  

The service has a large inpatient consult service across multiple hospitals, with strong collaboration with our colleagues in various medical and surgical specialities. We also have a growing outpatient service, with regular clinics for BodyIR, Venous Incompetence, and Vascular Anomalies. 

  

About the Role     

We are now looking to appoint an Interventional Radiology/Interventional Neuroradiology Unaccredited Junior Registrar. The Interventional Radiology/Interventional Neuroradiology Unaccredited Junior Registrar position will encompass clinical, educational and research responsibilities in an Interventional Radiology and Interventional Neuroradiology setting.  

  1. Assist with inpatient clinical review, referrals and ward rounds in consultation with senior registrars/fellows/consultants. 

  1. Attend outpatient clinics, including arranging relevant imaging examinations and clinical consultations for IR/INR patients. 

  1. Together with the Interventional Bookings Office staff, arrange anaesthetic support and ward/ICU beds for appropriate IR/INR patients.  

  1. Assist consultants, fellows and senior registrars perform a variety of endovascular and percutaneous image-guided procedures.  

  1. Learn to perform selected image-guided procedures under consultant supervision.

  

About You

What you need: 

  • Minimum of two years satisfactory full-time postgraduate experience, including recent demonstrated clinical practice as a registered medical practitioner in an Australian Health System. Appropriate clinical knowledge, skills and experience to undertake the role of Unaccredited Junior Registrar. 

  • Demonstrated interest or research in Interventional Radiology and/or Interventional Neuroradiology  

  • A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) which is recognised for non-provisional registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.  

  • No adverse conditions or adverse restrictions on practice  

  • Demonstrated interest or research in Interventional Radiology. 

  • Demonstrated interest in Diagnostic or Interventional Radiology. Research, audit or academic involvement in Interventional Radiology is desirable. 

  • Motor vehicle driver license – the Unaccredited Registrar may be required to attend Monash sites other than Monash Medical Centre (Clayton) during their duties.

  • Current Drivers Licence 

  • All candidates will require Australian working rights.
