About Monash Newborn

Monash Newborn provides neonatal services to support over 10,500 births a year at Monash Health across the Monash Children’s Hospital Clayton, Dandenong, Sandringham and Casey campuses, forming the largest neonatal service in Victoria. About 4,500 babies are born each year at Clayton to a selected high-risk maternity population, while lower risk mothers and their babies are cared for at Dandenong, Sandringham and Casey Hospitals.

The neonatal unit in Monash Children’s Hospital Clayton has a combined neonatal intensive care and special care capacity of 64 cots, the largest in Victoria. Supported by a comprehensive range of paediatric specialty and state-wide services at Monash Children’s Hospital, the neonatal service is able to provide the full range of medical and surgical care of the newborn, with the exception only of ECMO and cardiac surgery.
