Our PGY2 positions are ideal for those seeking a well-rounded clinical year that supports career exploration, skill development, and professional growth. Whether you're aiming for a specialty training pathway or simply want to deepen your clinical acumen, this program offers the structure, support, and variety to help you thrive.  

In addition to applying though Monash Health directly, you must be eligible and have registered with the PMCV for the PGY2 match and preference Monash Health #1.   

   

About the Role    

Our PGY2 positions are accredited and meet the Australian Medical Council (AMC) National Framework for Prevocational Medical Training (NFPMT) which was introduced in 2024 to bring Victoria in line with the rest of the states. Monash’s generalist PGY2 program enables successful candidates to complete four, 13-week rotations across:  

  • Undifferentiated illness care (Clinical Experience A)  

  • Chronic illness management (Clinical Experience B)  

  • Acute and critical care (Clinical Experience C)  

  • Service/Relief term (≤25% of the year)  

  • Participation in after-hours, weekend, and on-call rosters  

  • A supportive environment focused on education, supervision, and career development   

   

About You:

  • You must have successfully completed your PGY1 (Internship)  

  • You must be eligible for General Registration with AHPRA or the Medical Council of New Zealand by the start of the 2027 clinical year  

  • You must have completed your primary Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent) at an Australian, New Zealand or AMC accredited University (inclusive of Monash Malaysia)  

  • You must apply to the PGY2 PMCV Match and rank Monash Health #1  

  • Supporting References are to be submitted to the PMCV Portal

Mandatory requirements of the role:

  • Current Drivers Licence   

  • All candidates will require Australian working rights.
