About The Surgical & Anaesthesia Program   

The Surgical & Anaesthesia Program is large and diverse with planned and unplanned admissions across 7 sites.  In 2025 there were over 84,000 operations performed.  

Monash Health is accredited for training in all nine Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) specialties and provides opportunities from pre-vocational roles through to post Fellowship   

There is a strong commitment to quality improvement, research and education.  

  

About the Role    

The Surgical HMO provides exceptional clinical care to patients requiring surgical services at Monash Health, while simultaneously developing professional knowledge and skills to progress along their chosen career path.    

The surgical HMO will gain diverse exposure to surgical specialties, enjoy consultant-led mentorship and support for CV development towards specialist training.   

Participation in out-of-hours rosters to ensure continuous delivery of clinical service is expected.  Some rotations involve multiple short-term placements for leave cover (reliever terms).  

  

About You  

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:   

  • Current AHPRA registration (provisional or general) with a minimum two (2) years recent and relevant clinical experience  

  • Delivery of exceptional care and outstanding patient outcomes.   

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with effective time management.   

  • Strong commitment to patient safety and quality care  

  • Evidence of interest in academic pursuits, including research.   

  • Proven ability to work well in a team and exhibit leadership potential.   

  

Mandatory requirements of the role:   

  • Primary medical degree (MBBS) or equivalent    

  • Right to work in Australia   

  • Victorian Employee Working with Children's Check   

  • Two (2) completed referee reports (see below)
