We are excited to offer an opportunity for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people who would like to work to promote the mental health and wellbeing of those in their community and in the wider population in Melbourne's south east.

The Aboriginal Mental Health traineeship is a three year training program that provides supported experience for the trainee in various aspects of mental health care in bed-based and community services and drug and alcohol services. The trainee also undertakes a three year Bachelor of Health Science (Mental Health) at Charles Sturt University fully funded by Monash Health. Work and study commitments are coordinated to ensure successful completion of the traineeship. There is also dedicated cultural support on offer to the trainee. This is via the Aboriginal Health and Engagement Team and their identified staff. 

We are looking for someone:

• who wants to make a difference in the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
• who is looking to develop their knowledge and skills in mental health care
• is keen to work collaboratively with families, the Monash Health team and outside agencies
