About the Department / Program 

The Elective Surgery Department is responsible for the administration of planned surgery for patients. The team of administrative clerks and nurses work closely together to plan, book and organize patients, logistics and communications around planned surgery 

 

About the Role 

Join our team as a phone room clerk on a part time (24 hours/3 days per week), ongoing basis to work at Moorabbin Hospital based at Bentleigh East. In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the Perioperative & Elective Services Manager and working with the broader Elective Surgery Services team. 

  • To provide the administrative component for elective admissions within the Surgery and Interventional services program including patient inquiries 

  • Provide a friendly, courteous and professional greeting and support to all consumers  

  • Take incoming calls from patients enquiring about planned surgery 

  • Communicate via email and phone to Elective Surgery staff 

  • Registering patients onto systems 

 

About You 

To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes: 

  • Proficient computer skills / data entry 

  • Flexibility to work at different Monash Health sites is essential 

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently 

  • High level of personal presentation 

  • Familiarity with medical terminology
