About the Department/ Program 

The Planned Surgery Department is responsible for the administration of planned surgery for patients. Preadmission Services provides the clinical environment for preparing patients for their upcoming surgery.  

We have a wide range of Preadmission clinics servicing most surgical specialties with varying clinicians present in each session.  Patients are able to be assessed by Surgical Doctors, Anaesthetists, Medical Physicians, Pharmacists, Allied Health and Nursing disciplines.  Our purpose and expectation is that all patients who have a Preadmission appointment will be discharged as ready for surgery, and if not, an actionable plan is made to make the patient ready for surgery.  

 

About the Role 

Join our team as an Administrative Officer on a part time 32 hours per week, fixed term to 25th July 2027 basis to work across Monash Medical Centre Clayton and our dedicated building, the Integrated Perioperative Care Centre (IPCC) based in East Bentleigh.  In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the Preadmission Nurse Manager and working with the broader Preadmission and Planned Surgery teams. 

The Administrative Officer in Preadmission Clinics plays a critical role in shaping the overall patient experience. They are responsible for the coordination and booking of clinics and contribute significantly during the clinic sessions to ensure smooth and efficient operations. Key result areas: 

  • Opening clinic on time and welcoming patients and carers with courtesy and professionalism 

  • Managing appointment referrals, scheduling and bookings appropriately and timely 

  • Providing consistent, high quality administrative support to the team and manager 

  • Monday to Friday shifts with fair and equitable rostering to MMC Clayton and IPCC 

 

About You 

To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes: 

  • Previous experience in medical administration within a clinical environment (essential) 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (essential) 

  • Demonstrated proficiency in iPM, EMR (desirable)
