About Us 

Monash Health Pathology is an integral part of Monash Health. It is the largest public provider of Pathology services in the state and currently operates 6 laboratories. The largest of these is located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton, with additional laboratories located at the Dandenong, Moorabbin, Casey, Victorian Heart Hospital and Wonthaggi Hospitals. There is currently 18 collection locations based within the hospital sites and community settings. Services are provided to the Public and Private sectors, and other laboratory services. 

You will be joining Monash Health at an exciting time as we work in partnership with Alfred Health to be the premier shared public pathology service in Victoria.  As a member of the pathology team you will be helping shape the direction of the partnership. 

About the Role 

Hours: Full Time 76hrs F/N +ADO

Position conditions: Contracted 28th April 2025 until 31st August 2025

Classification: HS1

A position exists for an experienced Audio Typist in Anatomical Pathology (AP) to work at Monash Medical Centre Clayton.

The successful candidate will be expected to be competent in medical transcription, familiar with medical terminology and be able to thrive in a high demand work area.

Must be able to perform duties within the unit without supervision (following suitable training) which include:

  • Accurate and efficient transcription of audio files for biopsies, cytology and autopsy reports
  • Data entry and specimen registration
  • Identify and problem-solve, to their level of expertise, unlabelled and inadequately labelled specimens in accordance with set protocols.
  • Capacity to work under minimal supervision either as a part of a team or individually.
  • General office skills involving photocopying, filing and archiving records.
  • Answer and assist incoming callers in a friendly, courteous and professional manner at all times.
  • Release of results to clinician in-line with department confidentiality guidelines.
  • Carry out the printing, mailing and faxing of reports as required.
  • To be fully conversant with safety, follow Infection Control & OH&S Guidelines specific to the Unit

 About You:

The successful applicant will be expected to have a good attention to detail and organisation. You will be responsible for concisely typing pathology reports in a timely manner, answering phones and other clerical duties. Communication and working well within a team is pivotal to this role.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Ability to adhere to established procedures 
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal scientific communication 
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently and to a deadline to meet the clinical expectations of clients
