About Us  

The Monash Health EMR is supported by the Department of Digital Applications. This team supports the Business as Usual (BAU) operations of the EMR (including EMR maintenance/updates and new enhancements) and encompasses the idea of continuous improvement, using the EMR in new and innovative ways to achieve excellent care for patients and clinicians. 

The Digital Applications team works to maintain and improve the large ecosystem of different applications, platforms, products and interfaces across Monash Health.  

   

About the Role  

The Ambulatory Application Specialist is responsible for understanding the complexities, design, functionality and workflows of the Monash Health Specialist Clinics in EMR– referrals, scheduling, correspondence, orders, and clinical documentation. This role will have a key responsibility for engaging with the business and ensuring that the EMR meets the needs of Monash Health staff. 

Key result areas include:  

  • Delivery of design, build, and maintenance of Scheduling Appointment Book, Correspondence, and Scheduling orders in particular:  

    • Scheduling resources, books, templates, resource roles, resource list, flex rules, and codesets

    • Correspondence templates and rules 

    • Orders, order entry fields and formats 

  • Support Outpatient Referral Workflows and understand integration and impacts to other areas of EMR 

  • Advice on interoperability and integration with key external systems (such as iPM, Healthlink, Healthtrack, and NEXA applications.) 

  • Support VINAH reporting 

  • Provide testing expertise for enhancements, issues, and maintenance of the EMR 

  • Create documentation relating to the workflows, testing, support, and maintenance of the EMR 

  • Provide consultation, expertise, advice, and leadership on necessary EMR system maintenance for compliance to Monash Health objectives, standards, policies, and procedures 

  • Delivery of appropriate service levels for the EMR application to meet KPIs for support 

  • Build and maintain productive networks with internal and external partners and the vendor community  

    • Proactively build and maintain good working relationships with all Advancing Care Team members and relevant stakeholders including Executives, Subject Matter Experts, relevant Monash Health managers, Cerner, and other third party vendors to ensure the system implemented aligns with local requirements and strategic directions 

Successful applicants will also provide support based on a team on call roster.  

  

About You  

Qualifications/Registrations/Skills/Experience: 

  • 3+ years experience in healthcare and/or digital health

  • Demonstrable experience in the use of digital healthcare systems

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training

  • Current registration with a relevant professional body
