About the Role:
As a member of SECASA, this position will provide a therapeutic intervention using Art as a modality. In addition, you will play a key role in embedding a robust, evidenced based practice into our service provision to be utilised with our client group. The clinician will have a strong emphasis on collaborative working both within SECASA and other key stakeholders and as such will have outstanding communication resulting in positive client outcomes. SECASA practitioners are recognised for their clinical expertise and capacity to support clients to receive high quality therapeutic interventions.
About Us
Art Therapists at Monash Health utilise creative modalities such as visual art within a therapeutic relationship to improve and inform physical, mental and emotional well-being of patients and their families. The Grade 2 Art Therapist is responsible for working within the Music, Art and Child Life Therapies department to provide best practice care to patients and their families and carers, achieve maximal operational effectiveness and create strong partnerships within and outside Monash Health as part of the multidisciplinary team.
The South East Centre Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence (SECASA), is a program of Monash Health and has the responsibility in the Southern Region of the Department of Families, Fairness & Housing (DFFH) for:
- The provision and development of effective services to victim/survivors and associated people affected by sexual assault and family violence.
- The provision of assessment and treatment for adults, children and young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour.
- The provision of public education and professional training on sexual assault and anti-violence issues
- Social planning and processes related to reducing societal violence.
About You
This position will be an integral member of the Art Therapy service and is responsible for duties and projects as directed by the Manager of Sexual Assault and Family Violence, and the Clinical Lead for Art Therapy SECASA. This position is based at SECASA Monash Health. Staff are supported to continue their career development and lifelong learning.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated clinical experience working with and responding to complex trauma related to sexual assault and/or family violence.
- A willingness to receive evidence-based art therapy training recommended for treating trauma and to apply professional development to your work with SECASA clients
- Crisis intervention skills necessary for supporting people who have experienced sexual assault and/or family violence.
- Collaboratively work with other professionals and agencies to enhance wellbeing and safety for clients.

SECASA has a strong emphasis on clinician well-being with flexible work hours, monthly ADO, 5 weeks annual leave per year. In addiction SECASA has a committed in-house wellbeing team with monthly social activities planned. As part of SECASA's commitment to you, SECASA ensures all full time employees receive $500 and 5 days Professional Development leave per year. In addition to this SECASA as the largest sexual assault service in Victoria also offers a comprehensive induction to the service, along with evidenced based trauma focused training to ensure you feel equipped to complete the role, such training includes TF-CBT, CPT and EMDR.
