About the Role:

Join our team as an Art Therapist (Grade 2) on a part time (30.4 hrs per fortnight) ongoing to work at Monash Children’s Hospital, Clayton.

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-based Art Therapy interventions to support paediatric patients and their families.

As an integral part of the Monash Children’s Art Therapy team, you will:

  • Provide expert Art Therapy interventions to support the emotional, cognitive, and psychological well-being of patients.
  • Use creative and expressive therapies to promote relaxation, pain management, and coping skills.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate Art Therapy into patient-centred care plans.
  • Contribute to service development through mentoring students, education initiatives, and quality improvement projects.

Additional Requirements:

  • Travel may be required across multiple Monash Health sites.
  • Adhere to Monash Health’s procedures, policies, and escalation protocols.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.

We deliver specialised Art Therapy services to support paediatric patients, families, and carers at Monash Children’s Hospital, using creative and expressive therapies to promote emotional well-being, enhance coping, and support recovery in healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert clinical care through evidence-based Art Therapy interventions for paediatric patients.
  • Support and mentor Grade 1 Art Therapists and students through clinical supervision and guidance.
  • Contribute to service development through education, quality improvement, and research initiatives.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate Art Therapy into patient care and family-centered support.

About You:

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

  • Expertise in using Art Therapy in paediatric and hospital-based care settings.
  • A compassionate and patient-centred approach to therapy.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Motivation to contribute to service development, education, and quality improvement.

What you need:

  • Postgraduate degree or Master’s in Art Therapy or Creative Arts Therapy from an approved training course.
  • Eligible for professional membership with the Australian, New Zealand, and Asian Creative Arts Therapies Association (ANZACATA).
