About the Department / Program

The Pharmacy Department at Monash Health delivers safe, high-quality, evidence-based medication services across acute, subacute and community settings. Our service supports patients across the continuum of care and works closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve clinical outcomes and consumer experience.

The Workforce portfolio within Pharmacy plays a critical role in ensuring our services are sustainably staffed with skilled, supported and engaged pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Key functions include recruitment and onboarding, workforce planning, casual bank management, wellbeing initiatives, workforce analytics and governance.

 

About the Role

Join our team as an Assistant Deputy Director of Pharmacy on a part time (Thursday-Friday), fixed term (12 month parental leave) basis, working across multiple Monash Health sites.  In this role, you will be working with the broader Pharmacy Leadership team.

Reporting to the Deputy Director of Pharmacy – Workforce and Wellbeing, the Assistant Deputy Director of Pharmacy – Workforce provides leadership across pharmacy workforce functions to support a high-performing, future-ready workforce.

As a member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team, you will influence strategy and work closely with other Pharmacy leaders and People & Culture to deliver workforce, recruitment, retention and wellbeing priorities.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading pharmacy recruitment, onboarding and position management processes.
  • Overseeing the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician Casual Bank, including recruitment, orientation, training and performance review.
  • Developing and monitoring workforce data, metrics and KPIs to inform planning and decision-making.
  • Coordinating workforce wellbeing initiatives and supporting a positive workplace culture.
  • Contributing to pharmacy strategic planning, governance, quality improvement and research activities.

 

This is a multi-site role across Monash Health. Travel between sites is required. Flexible or hybrid working arrangements may be available by agreement, subject to operational requirements. The role is primarily business hours and does not operate on a rotating roster or night shift.

 

About You

To be successful in this healthcare role, you will demonstrate significant experience in hospital pharmacy practice, along with proven leadership or management capability. You will bring strong skills in workforce planning, recruitment, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement, complemented by a proactive, solutions-focused approach and excellent communication and influencing abilities. Experience supporting education and research activities is desirable, as is strong data and analytical capability, including advanced Excel skills.

 

Mandatory requirements:

  • Pharmacy Board of Australia approved qualifications as a Pharmacist.
  • Current registration with Ahpra as a Pharmacist.
  • Right to work in Australia and ability to meet Monash Health pre-employment screening and immunisation requirements.
