About the Role:
Join our team as a Associate Midwife Manager on an ongoing (0.6 EFT) capacity, to work at Birth Suite / PAU based at Monash Medical Centre.
As a key member of our team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Birth Suite and PAU, leading clinical activities, and enhancing patient care outcomes. This role provides the opportunity to develop your leadership skills and contribute to high-quality, compassionate care for women.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Midwife Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department ensuring a positive and efficient environment for both staff and patients.
- Support staff with escalating care as required, ensuring timely follow-up and facilitating smooth care pathways for patients.
- Facilitate the care of high-risk patients by ensuring proper coordination of care and maintaining effective communication with the broader healthcare team.
- Contribute to service improvements through involvement in various projects and initiatives.
- Mentor and guide junior midwifery staff, offering advice and practical guidance to foster development.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic and patient-centered care.
The opportunity is Ongoing 0.6 EFT - working across a rotating roster, 7 days a week.

About MMC Birth Suite and Pregnancy Assessment Unit (PAU)
We are a 12 bed Birthing Suite with a 4 bed and 2 chair Pregnancy assessment unit providing care for over 4.500 births annually.
Our passionate collaborative team provides a comprehensive range of Assessment and Birthing services for the rapidly growing communities of Melbourne’s South East.
The Monash Women’s program works in conjunction with our Casey, Monash Medical Centre and Sandringham Hospital’s Women’s Health teams.
About You:
You are an experienced midwife, passionate about Women Centred Care, with a demonstrated commitment to empowering women and their families within a service that embraces consistency of advice and continuity of philosophy. You consistently role-model clinical excellence and are a proven leader of people, motivating your team to work effectively together in a clinical setting. You will be inspired everyday working with like-minded, passionate colleagues who share your values and purpose.
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
- Demonstrated experience in a Maternity services across all scope
- A strong commitment to delivering high-quality care and support for women.
- A keen interest in enhancing patient outcomes and experiences through innovative initiatives.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with staff and patients.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
