About the Role

Join Aviary ward as an Associate Nurse Manager in an ongoing full or part time position at Monash Children’s Hospital, working across a 24/7 rotational roster. As an ANM on Aviary, you will be responsible for assisting the Nurse Manager with the day-to-day operations of the ward, ensuring sound clinical outcomes for our patients and their families and supporting the overall management of unit/department staff. You will be role modelling the iCare values and acting as a mentor to our nursing team ensuring we achieve outstanding levels of Family Centred Care.     

 

About Us

Aviary Ward at Monash Children’s Hospital is a 24 bed unit specialising in Neurology, Adolescent and Rehabilitation patients. We are a unique ward, caring for patients with both acute and sub-acute presentations, allowing for continual development across both areas of nursing. Our patients may be with us as they require extensive rehabilitation, they may be presenting with eating disorders and/or struggling with mental health concerns or they are patients who require care for neurological based conditions. 

 

About You

You are an experienced nurse who has Paediatric experience, and you are looking to progress your leadership journey, having had experience leading shifts. Aviary is a unique ward and we are seeking nurses who have a passion for supporting our varied patient cohort. You pride yourself on your initiative and willingness to help out wherever you can and you role model the Monash iCare values at all times. You have a passion for process improvement and are willing to lead projects to ensure we provide the highest level of care to our patients and their families.   

  • You are a strong communicator and are comfortable working with all members of a multidisciplinary team to work towards the best outcomes for our patients and their families. 

  • You are someone who your peers reach out to and you enjoy acting as a mentor for your colleagues 

  • Reliability is key for this role, as our leaders are a constant source of support to both our Nurse Manager and our Nurses, so this is a must have to be successful 

  • You are naturally resilient and are motivated by a challenge 

  • You have a love of learning and seek out new opportunities where you can 

  • You display initiative and can think outside the box while problem solving 

What you need: 

  • Current AHPRA registration 

  • Experience in Paediatrics 

  • Recent experience in an acute hospital setting, and applications with mental health experience will be highly regarded 

  • Experience leading a shift, either as NIC or Associate Nurse Manager
