About the Role
Join our team as an Associate Nurse Manager in a part time, ongoing position working out of the Victoria Heart Hospital - Emergency Department in Clayton.
This is a clinical leadership role representing an integral link between the nursing and the broader leadership team. You will be approachable, articulate, and a mentor who leads by example. You’ll thrive supporting nurses whilst working closely with the Nurse Manager to help drive the operational requirements and key performance indicators (KPI’s) of the department to deliver outstanding patient centred emergency care.
The Associate Nurse Manager is responsible for supporting the management of specific portfolios, including but not limited to:
- Clinical support and education
- Roster and leave management
- Support services Co-Ordination
- Staff performance review and development
- Quality and safety
- Emergency management and occupational health and safety
- Daily operational performance / support
This role will work clinical shifts within the Emergency Department as required.

At the Victorian Heart Hospital, Australia’s first dedicated cardiac hospital, we pride ourselves on delivering world-class, patient-centred care in a high-acuity environment. Our Emergency Department is equipped with 2 resuscitation bays, 8 short-stay beds, 3 assessment bays, and 12 main cubicles, ensuring we can respond rapidly and effectively to critically ill patients—90% of whom fall under Category 1 and 2 acuity. Despite being a senior-led team, we maintain a strong clinical presence on the floor, with a hands-on approach that prioritises bedside care and team collaboration. About You
You are an enthusiastic Critical Care Nurse who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are willing to commit to team work and ongoing professional development that align with our programs, values and vision.
To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
- Able to demonstrate the ability to lead by example
- A leader in providing coaching and support to other nursing students and junior staff.
- Passionate about nursing and supporting patients and their families throughout an admission to the unit
- Enthusiastic, compassionate & able to work collaboratively
- Excited to be accountable for and manage specific portfolios in our relentless pursuit of excellence
- An advocate of Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles
In addition:
- Experience as an ANM is desirable
- A post graduate qualification in Critical Care is essential
- You are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Authority (AHRPA)
- Willingness to take on a portfolio(s) contributing to ward quality improvements and National Standards
- Hold a valid Working with Children Check
