About Ward 54
Ward 54 is one of two specialised Neuroscience facilities across Victoria, providing quality nursing care in a highly acute setting for patients with complex medical needs.
We are an experienced multidisciplinary team working toward the best outcomes for our patients. We have a 46-bed unit with a primary focus on Neurosurgery, Neurology and Stroke patients and a 10 bed HDU and a single bed video EEG.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) to join the Ward 54 team in a full-time ongoing position (76 hours per fortnight).
Being part of one of 2 stroke referral centres for the State, you will be exposed to the miracle of science at its best, as well as other surgical procedures that will see your nursing knowledge, clinical skill and competence grow incredibly.
You will see a range of neurological disorders such as Myasthenia Gravis and Guillain-Barre syndrome, and will be involved in seizure care and management for your patients
Reporting to the Nurse Manager and working closely with the multidisciplinary team, the ANM plays a key clinical leadership role in supporting the day-to-day operational management of the ward while ensuring safe, evidence-based, and timely patient care.
The successful candidate will assist the Nurse Manager in leading the team, supporting staff development, and driving excellence in clinical and operational outcomes.
Responsibilities of the Associate Nurse Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the Nurse Manager to provide effective, visible leadership and clinical supervision across the team
- Assisting and deputising for the Nurse Manager as required
- Managing workload allocation, roster coordination, leave management, and staff performance development
- Facilitating efficient and effective nursing handovers
- Coordinating patient admission and discharge processes while proactively managing barriers to patient flow
- Ensuring compliance with legislation relating to privacy, confidentiality, and management of personal information
- Participating in the development and review of Nursing policies and procedures
- Attending multidisciplinary and family meetings as required
- Managing and being accountable for designated clinical and operational portfolios or projects

Your communication skills are second to none, and you actively role model our Monash values
In this leadership role, you will work closely with the Nurse Manager to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the ward.

What You Need
- Demonstrated clinical experience in a high-acuity or similar (Neuroscience) environment (essential)
- Recent Leadership experience essential
- Willingness to further develop leadership capabilities through portfolio management
- A relevant postgraduate /masters qualification in Neuroscience (highly desirable)
