About the Role 

Join our team as an Associate Nurse Manager in a part time, fixed term 11 month position until April  2027 working out of Monash Children’s Hospital Ward 3A Forest – Paediatric Surgery at Clayton. 

  

This is a clinical leadership role representing an integral link between the nursing and the broader leadership team. You will be approachable, articulate, and a mentor who leads by example. You’ll thrive supporting nurses whilst working closely with the Nurse Manager to help drive the operational requirements and key performance indicators (KPI’s) of the department to deliver outstanding patient centred care. 

 

  

About Us 

Forest is a 32-bed tertiary Paediatric Surgical Unit providing specialised care to children and young people aged 0–19 years. Our unit manages a diverse range of surgical specialties including ENT, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, renal and procedural medicine, general paediatric surgery, plastics, vascular anomalies, and complex surgical pathways. Our dedicated multidisciplinary team is committed to delivering high-quality, family-centred care within a dynamic, child-friendly environment where children, young people, and their families feel supported, safe, and valued throughout their healthcare journey. 

 

  

About You

You are a passionate and motivated Paediatric Nurse with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, committed to teamwork, professional growth, and delivering exceptional family-centred care. You thrive in a fast-paced tertiary paediatric environment and demonstrate behaviours that align with our values, vision, and commitment to excellence.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • The ability to lead by example and positively contribute to team culture
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supporting, coaching, and mentoring junior nurses, students, and peers
  • A genuine passion for paediatric nursing and supporting children, young people, and their families throughout their healthcare journey
  • Compassion, enthusiasm, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Initiative and accountability in leading ward-based portfolios, quality improvement initiatives, and National Standards activities
  • A commitment to Monash Health’s Strategic Guiding Principles and delivering safe, high-quality care

 

Essential Criteria

  • Previous experience as an Associate Nurse Manager (ANM) or demonstrated experience leading shifts in an acute care environment
  • Recent paediatric nursing experience within an acute healthcare setting
  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Willingness to undertake portfolio responsibilities that contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance, and National Standards compliance
  • A current Working with Children Check
