About the Role:

Join our team as a Billing Officer- Overseas Liaison in a part time ongoing position for three days per week from Monday to Friday, based at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton. Being part of the Revenue Services team, and reporting to the Team Leader, you’ll play a crucial part in supporting the objectives of the Revenue Services Department.

Some of your duties will include:  

  • Performing insurance fund checks on Medicare non-eligible patients. 
  • Requesting pre-deposits from patients with inadequate insurance coverage 
  • Ensuring that invoices are managed in accordance with protocols - including invoicing charges, liaison with appropriate parties and debt collection. 
  • Ensuring billing corrections are carried out in an accurate and timely manner. 
  • Responding to queries from patients, health insurers, billing agents, and external and internal stakeholders.  
  • In addition to other relevant administrative tasks as required 

About Us:

The Overseas Liaison Officers are patient-facing members of the broader Revenue Services department. We work closely with patients, their families and ward staff to ensure non-Medicare eligible billing is completed in a timely and respectful manner. We are multi-tasking powerhouses, juggling phone calls, emails, billing and follow ups. Every day is slightly different and there is a lot of variety in the role.

About You:

You will have a proven ability to learn and apply knowledge related to customer service and excel at multitasking with keen attention to detail. You demonstrate critical self-evaluation and reflection, maintaining a professional and respectful demeanour, and exhibit consistent and reliable performance. Building and maintaining relationships across various levels of the organisation will be second nature to you and is crucial to this role. Although specific knowledge and experience regarding Medicare Non-Eligible patients, insurance and funding types are not required, you must be able to learn and understand these aspects. You’ll be part of a collaborative, high achieving team that busy, high volume billing team, To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and knowledge:  

Required Skills:

  • Previous experience in billing, receipting and banking 
  • Demonstrated experience in handling difficult situations, the ability to de-escalate situations and resolve complaints in an effective manner 
  • Competency with Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • High level customer service and negotiation skills 
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team 
  • Able to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines 
  • Ability to work at any Monash Health site to meet the operational requirements of the business

Desirable:

  • Prior Experience with PBRC and iPM
