About the Department
As part of the Department of Health’s initiative to return public pathology to public hospitals and ensure consistent, accessible care for all Victorians, Alfred Health and Monash Health have established a partnership to deliver a Shared Pathology Service.
Pathology services are provided from two main laboratories—The Alfred in Prahran and Monash Medical Centre in Clayton—and six branch laboratories located at Casey Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Sandringham Hospital, Wonthaggi Hospital and Victorian Heart Hospital. In addition, there are 23 collection centres and rooms spread across South East Melbourne and South Gippsland, with the furthest one located in Yarram. The service will expand to Western Health by early 2026.
About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for experienced clinical leader to join our Shared Pathology Service as the Chief Operating Officer.
This is a 12-month role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of public pathology, working across two high quality and extensive pathology services.
The Chief Operating Officer will work with all stakeholders across the pathology network to align processes and operations across pathology services, digital health, OHS and workforce planning ensuring efficient and sustainable services.
This opportunity is well suited for a clinical leader who is passionate about sustainable growth in public pathology services in Victoria and committed to providing high-quality pathology services.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in a senior leadership role, with a proven ability to develop, translate and execute the strategic direction and growth.
- Strong leadership behaviours, sound judgement, and adherence to professional standards.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, particularly in inter-organisational partnerships and with diverse stakeholders including Board members, colleagues, and patients.
- A passion for driving and implementing major change, with attention to both vision and detail.
- Clinical qualifications and extensive experience in a senior leadership role within a pathology setting.
