- Using specialist knowledge and skills in child development to provide support and distraction during procedures.
- Opportunities for play to support wellbeing within the hospital and facilitate medical play to teach children new coping strategies.
- Providing regular training and support to other health professionals around procedural support and distraction, preparing children for medical procedures and strategies to support children’s wellbeing in the healthcare environment.
- Working as part of an integrated Allied Health team, this role may also be required to flexibly provide services to other units and teams within Monash Children’s Hospital.

- Compassion and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team

- Excellent interpersonal skills, a strong team focus and an innovative approach
- Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood or Primary Teaching (4 years full time)
OR - An equivalent undergraduate or postgraduate qualification that includes at least two years of formal study in child development
(This may include allied health professionals with qualifications that meet the child development study requirement.) - Eligibility for professional membership with the Association of Child Life Therapists Australia (ACLTA) is desirable
