The Monash Health Infection Prevention & Epidemiology team are looking for dynamic applicants to join our service across Monash Health.
This is for a part time 0.8 to 1 EFT ongoing position.

Our Journey - Monash Health Infection Prevention Team
The Monash Health Infection Prevention team consists of Clinical Nurse Consultants and includes secretarial support. It is led by an infectious diseases physician and works closely with Monash Infectious Diseases, Antimicrobial Stewardship Service, the Microbiology Laboratory and the newly established South East Public Health Unit. We actively work to ensure patient and healthcare worker safety from healthcare acquired infections and deliver on organisation strategic goals aligning with the NSQHS Standards.
A Day in the Life
The infection prevention clinical nurse consultant is an expert nurse with advanced theoretical and clinical skills working in accordance with NCQSH standards to provide safe patient outcomes and deliver on strategic organisational priorities. The role will be supported by the Monash Health Infection Prevention Team and includes:

manages outbreaks through contact tracing and containment initiatives

provide staff immunisation, skin care evaluations and occupational exposure management and advice
-
conduct surveillance activities around surgical site infections, staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia and central lines
-
promote antimicrobial stewardship and monitor multidrug resistant organisms
-
provide ongoing education across the organisation on infection prevention, including engagement with our infection prevention liaison staff in local departments
-
operationalise the hand hygiene program for Monash Health
-
ensure compliance with standards and best practice guidelines as they relate to infection prevention.

engage in research activities to reduce the burden of healthcare acquired infections.
About You
You have been developing your critical thinking skills. You are keen to develop your skills in Infection Prevention, or you are an accomplished Infection Prevention consultant, either way, you are ready to take this next step in your career. You lead by example, thrive working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and are genuinely passionate about delivering a high standard of evidence-based nursing care. You are ready to be part of a dynamic Infection Prevention team at Monash Health. You will also have:

Acute clinical experience (essential)
-
Relevant post graduate qualifications, or working towards, in Infection Prevention or similar speciality

Recent experience in Infection Prevention (desired)
-
Accredited nurse immuniser qualifications or working towards
-
Experience and comfort utilising digital applications and web-based platforms
-
Hand Hygiene Auditor (desired)

Current AHPRA registration
