Neuro-immunology Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC)
- Opportunity for an experienced Neuro-immunology CNC to join the Neurology Team at Monash Health
- Part Time (0.2 EFT), Fixed position until Sept 2026.
- Located at the Monash Medical Centre, Clayton
Our Journey
Monash Health (MH) Neurology consists of dedicated clinicians specialising in treating patients with routine and complex neurological disorders. MH Neurology provides comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services for patients with neuro-immunological conditions. Our team is also involved in local and international clinical trials and research.
We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our neuro-immunology team. This is a (Part Time, Fixed position), working 16 hours per fortnight, based at Monash Medical Centre, Clayton
A Day in the Life
The CNC is an expert nurse with advanced theoretical and clinical skills who provides clinical resource, clinical advisory/development and undertakes related projects and development activities to meet specified clinical nursing needs in neuro-immunology. The CNC is both directly and indirectly responsible for facilitating streamlined pathways of care through providing high level of knowledge and clinical skills to patients with neurological disorders.
You will also be responsible for the management and supervision of other employees and the development of strategies to meet the educational requirements of employee. This also includes the forward planning of resource requirements. You will also work with research nurses ensuring patients are offered with current research and clinical trials alongside with enthusiastic and experienced research team in neurology.
Responsible for:
- Delivering assessment, consultation and treatment in collaboration with neurology team
- Managing complex cases / caseloads
- Coordinating clinical care and providing clinical supervision or leadership as required
- Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Contributing to strategic planning, team performance, professional development
About You

You will have demonstrable experience in working collaboratively with key agencies, within the scope of relevant legislation and professional guidelines and are an excellent communicator, able to work independently and contribute to a resilient team. In addition to this, you will also have:

Excellent people management including relationship building, cooperation, conflict resolution, influencing others and facilitating open discussions

Lead and facilitate the development of systems and processes to support the planning and coordination of safe and effective person-centred care
-
May recommend and/or conduct diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as authorised or approved
-
Be a senior resource and contact person for clinical matters
-
Monitor patients for critical changes and initiate appropriate emergency procedures

Identifies and promptly escalates and documents emerging issues of concern to the Manager
-
In the clinical setting ensure timely discharge planning and facilitate the consumer’s safe and effective transition from hospital to home by way of referral to appropriate health resources and services

Conduct health promotion to enhance consumer health and well-being and encourage and empower consumers to participate in their health care

Provide ongoing advice on current and new practices that will impact on new directions of the clinical specialty service. This may include development and review of educational health material and research trials of new appliances and products where relevant

Adhere to legislation pertaining to privacy and confidentiality and the handling of personal information

Lead / participate in multi-disciplinary family meetings as required

Ensure consumer complaints are escalated in adherence relevant policies and procedures
What you need:

Registered with Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia via AHPRA via AHPRA
-
Minimum of five years nursing/midwifery experience, at least two of which have been in neurology/neurosciences
-
Recent experience as a CNC
-
Qualification of Master’s Degree or other relevant post graduate education or working towards the same

Current and satisfactory pre or ongoing employment screening, including but not limited to National Police
-
Check and employee Working with Children Check (WWC)
-
Member of a relevant health professional research group or other Nursing/Midwifery professional association
