Clinical Psychologist - Paeidatric Rehabilitation (Grade 2) - Part Time   

 

About the Role

The clinical psycholgist provides psychological services to patients of the Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Services (VPRS) of Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH). VPRS is a state-wide specialist interdisciplinary rehabilitation service for children and adolescents. It is aimed at maximising function in the context of major injury, medical illness, neurological conditions (including acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy), complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), and functional neurological symptom disorder (FND). Patients engage in rehabilitation with the goal of improving overall function, quality of life and engagement in developmentally appropriate activities of daily living. The service has a key role in providing long-term specialist follow-up clinics and ensuring transition to adult services, where required. 

  

About Us 

The Victorian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (VPRS) is a statewide specialist service which caters for the complex rehabilitation needs of children and adolescents after major injury, medical illness, and congenital conditions who undergo interventions aimed at functional maximisation.  VPRS has 8 sites Eastern Health, Bendigo Health, Barwon Health, Ballart Health, Goulbourn Valley Health, Latrobe Regional Hospital and at The Royal Children’s Hospital.  VPRS utilises a child and adolescent specific interdisciplinary care model according to best practice and will assist in delivering hospital, community- and home-based services.  The service has a key role in providing long-term specialist follow-up clinics and ensuring transition to adult-based services where required. 

 

About You 

To ensure your success in this role you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:  

  • Current general registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and consent to ongoing registration checks via Monash Health’s electronic credentialing systems 

  • Current and ongoing employment screening, including but not limited to, National Police Check, employee Working with Children Check (WWC) and where relevant Aged Care Worker Screening, and as required National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening 

  • Hold or working toward endorsement in Clinical Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, or Health Psychology 

  • Demonstrated expereince in paediatric care (specialist skills in rehabilitation is desirable) 

  • Knowledge and skills in providing evidence-based psychological assessments, formulation, intervention and evaluation of outcomes with individuals, families/carers and groups 

  • Knowledge and/or experience in providing psychological services to patients who present with mood, anxiety, adjustment and somatic symptom and related disorders, pain and fatigue in the context of significant medical conditions
