Midwifery at Monash Health
As Victoria’s largest maternity service provider, Monash Women’s maternity service provides care to over 9,000 women each year across three hospitals. Our size and scope ensures that you will be exposed to a range of clinical experiences from primary maternity through to high risk models of care.
About The Role
We are excited to announce a Clinical Support Midwife position, predominantly at Clayton with previous experience and skills in Special Care Nursery (desirable).
• 1 x permanent part-time position (0.63eft)
This role includes:
• Supporting contemporary education that promotes best practice standards.
• Clinical support to midwifery staff of all proficiency levels, novice to expert working in both maternity and newborn areas
• Demonstrating and promoting expertise and best practice standards
• Helping to ensure that through a highly skilled and educated workforce our patients receive safe and high-quality care within Monash Health
• Working collaboratively with the leadership team including the multi-disciplinary team
• Demonstrate agility and work as a change agent
About You
You understand the job satisfaction of being a successful midwife, having achieved a level of clinical expertise that enables you to truly place women at the centre of your care. Perhaps lately you have been considering where to next. You feel ready to play a part in the support and education of others and are interested in seeing where your leadership potential can take you.
As you would expect, we need your sound understanding of clinical assessment and advanced midwifery practice, plus insight into different learning and teaching styles. Naturally you are a clear and positive communicator, quickly establishing rapport with the people you work with.

You Are Also:
You are a highly skilled midwife with a passion for education. You are a dual registered midwife and nurse.
You have well-developed engagement, communication and collaboration skills.
You have recent experience in all areas of maternity and a desirable level of clinical skills and knowledge of neonatal care in a Special Care Nursery environment. You are experienced in supporting learners and in particular, you can demonstrate:
• commitment to quality clinical care and sound clinical skills
• ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
• ability to show initiative and work independently when required
• ability to demonstrate expertise within the full scope of midwifery practice
• committed to a leadership & mentoring role
• dedicated to safe best practice & quality care
• committed to delivering patient centred care & a patient advocacy
• enthusiastic, compassionate & able to work collaboratively
• excited to be accountable for and manage specific portfolios in our relentless pursuit of excellence
What You Need:
• Demonstrated experience (aligned to position description)
• Current AHPRA dual RN/RM registration
• Full scope of midwifery practice preferred (including perineal suturing and PIVC)
• Australian working rights
