We are seeking a Clinical Support Nurse on a part time, fixed term basis to join our education team and support the development of our team during a period of growth in PICU.

 

PICU at Monash Children’s Hospital is a dedicated paediatric tertiary 10 bed unit with a complex patient mix, and is one of only 2 Paediatric Intensive Care referral units for the State of Victoria. PICU is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand and admits over 700 children a year with a broad range of general and subspecialty paediatric as well as surgical conditions.

 

A Day in the Life

This key role in supporting the growth and development of our PICU staff, provides education and training to advance their clinical competency to enhance the care they provide to paediatric patients receiving critical care. You will be supported by a dedicated and enthusiastic team of medical, nursing, and committed allied health professionals, working with and alongside other passionate clinical education colleagues. Working closely at the bedside with our nursing workforce, the role is pivotal in implementing Monash Health education frameworks and project planning to continuously improve and remain contemporary in our education delivery. Some of your specific accountabilities will include:   

  • Providing contemporary education that promotes best practice standards   
  • Providing clinical support to staff of all proficiency levels, novice to expert   
  • Demonstrating and promoting best practice standards   
  • Helping to ensure that through a highly skilled and educated workforce, our patients receive safe and high quality care
  • Working collaboratively with the leadership team including the multi-disciplinary team  
  • Delivery of education sessions in line with our structured programs
  • Assessment of staff skills as they work through formal education  

 

About You

  • Significant recent Paediatric Critical Care clinical experience
  • Completion of postgraduate qualifications (Critical Care)
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • A sound understanding of clinical supervision, clinical assessment and advanced clinical practice
